We only have a week to go. I have been writing this column for over a year, and now the goal is in sight. Now the WKC is truly upon us, every day is spent taking care of so many little things. 24 hours in a day is not enough. The last month has passed very quickly, so I will briefly go through some of the things the steering committee has been up to since my last report. In March, all of the commemorative tournament goods that will be sold at the venue were produced. The photo is of the bag that will be on sale. It’s made from the same material used for kendo-gi, and is very fitting for a kendo tournament. It has the WKC logo printed on the bottom right. The bag comes in big or small sizes, and a long with the Shingen-bag, they will be available for purchase for as long as the limited stock lasts.

The renewed WKC homepage was also made public in March. Lists of all of the competitors from each country and past results were added. The homepage can be accessed not only on computers but also on smartphones. and will be used to stream the matches live during the tournament.

JR, Japan’s largest train company, also posted WKC posters in many of its stations in the kanto region. People who live in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba will be able to find the posters at their local railway station.

In April, we started taking countdown photos to add excitement to the approaching event. We called on a Japanese celebrity who loves kendo, Haraguchi Akimasa, and also the Japanese men’s team at one of their camps. Haraguchi looked great in his kendo gear, and the Japanese men’s team were staunch.

I also made the ID Cards for the payers and officials, organized the screeds of data, designed polo shirts for the staff, and wrote this column…

We are full steam ahead in the final aspects of getting everything ready. No time to laugh or cry, just got to get things done in the final days.
